Vijaya Galic, M.D. MBA FACOG
Vijaya Galic, M.D. MBA FACOG is a board certified gynecologic oncologist. She specializes in the care of women with cancers of the reproductive system. She received her BS from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, Her MBA from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and her MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle, WA. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology from New York Presbyterian Hospital, Cornell and Columbia Universities in New York. Dr. Galic has authored multiple publications in the field of Gynecologic Oncology and has presented her work at local, national and international meetings.
Her expertise includes the treatment of advanced cancers with the most current techniques including radical surgery, hyperthermic chemotherapy, immunotherapy and molecular targeted therapies. She is an accomplished minimally invasive surgeon and was the former program director for the Texas Tech AAGL Minimally Invasive surgical fellowship. She offers minimally invasive surgery on with both robotic and non-robotic laparoscopic platforms as well as enhanced recovery interventions designed to minimize the time required to recover from the procedure. Recognizing that many gynecologic malignancies occur in women of childbearing age, she offers fertility preserving procedures for ovarian uterine and cervical cancers. Gynecologic Oncology is unique in that it spans the entire continuum of the disease process from diagnosis to death. For this reason, Dr. Galic provides comprehensive palliative care for all women with cancer. She has studied genetics with some of the leaders in the field and offers genetic counseling and testing for patients at risk for hereditary cancer syndromes.
Dr. Galic relocated to El Paso in 2016 and has made this area her home. She came her in response to the desperate need in the local area for advanced cancer care and remains deeply committed to serving the local community. It is her mission to bring the most advanced yet culturally sensitive cancer care to the women in the El Paso community. In her spare time she enjoys raising and showing Pomeranian dogs and enjoying the local geography and culture.
Dr. Galic was named to the 2020 Texas Super Doctors Rising Stars list, a distinction held by only 2.5% of physicians within the state.
